The Careers of Young Czech University Teachers

Abstract

The publication describes in detail the determinants that influence the careers of beginning academics, which have been neglected in the research so far. The author presents personal, occupational and academic potentials that affect the professional as well as the personal life of young academics. The publication presents research findings about beginning academics employed at Czech universities. In the book chapters, their professional goals, problems and personal decisions are presented. The monograph shows the time sequence of changes that young academics undergo from their admittance to the doctoral study to the employment contract at the university.
