dc.description.abstract During World War I Tomas Bata decided to extend his business undertaking to Pardubice, where he established a subsidiary. At first he leased and later bought the building of the Valcha mill. However, the business was not much successful. The subsidiary had several incidents of more serious nature with the local self-government. There was even a strike in the factory. In 1924 the Company shut down the factory. en
